China: Cloud Fall Cascades Over Nanchuan’s Jinfo Mountain

This is the stunning moment that a mesmerizing waterfall cascaded down the eastern slope of Jinfo Mountain, leaving viewers in awe with its “cloud fall”-like appearance. On May 10, 2025, in Nanchuan District, Chongqing, the video showed thick white clouds dramatically tumbling down the mountain slope like a massive waterfall. The breathtaking spectacle occurred at the eastern foothills of Jinfo Mountain, a region that is known for its unique topography, which contributed to the formation of such rare natural phenomena. In the video, the clouds poured over the ridge in powerful streams, creating the illusion of liquid mist plunging from the peak. According to local meteorological explanations, the “cloud fall” was formed due to a specific combination of warm and cool airflows along the mountain slope. When temperatures rose on one side of the mountain, clouds were pushed by the wind toward the cooler side, creating a “cloud fall”. The video ended with the rolling clouds continuing their dramatic descent, blanketing the forested slopes below in a sea of mist.

Shinkyo Bridge,the Daiyagawa River

Shinkyo Bridge spans Daiya River at the entrance to Nikko-Sannai. The bridge is also called Jabashi (Snake Bridge), referring to the legend that the priest Shodoshonin, when founding Nikko, crossed the river by walking over two big snakes released by Shinja-Daio. The bridge in this photograph was washed away by a flood in 1902. The Hundred Stone Statues of Jizo at Ganmangahara,Nikko

This famous sight on Daiya River is known by names such as Narabi-jizo, Bake-jizo, and Hyaku-jizo. It is also known as Kanman-ga-fuchi or Ganman-ga-fuchi. A row of Japanese cedar trees along the Nikko Road

The cedars along Nikko Highway were donated by Matsudaira Masatsuna on the 33rd anniversary of the death of Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu. The building visible in the background probably stands near Oiwake Jizo. This area was beautiful at the time. The sky is visible between the trees. Mt. Asama seen from Katsukake

Mt. Asama (2568m) as seen from the post town of Kutsukake, one of the three post towns of Asama-Negoshi. The Nakasendo Highway passes the southern foot of the mountain. It was after the opening of the first road built as part of the Seven Route Construction Project of Nagano Prefecture in 1883 that carriage traffic appeared. The stream is Yukawa. Arashiyama

Arashiyama (Mt. Arashi) has a height of about 380 meters. It is located on the east edge of the Tanba Highlands and has Torigamine and Yamagamine to the northwest and Mt. Matsuo to the southeast. Hozu River runs from the north to the east at the northern foot of the mountain. A bamboo grove with a brushwood fence is shown at the bank of Hozu River, with hotels in the distance. A rickshaw with a woman passenger stands in front of the grove and a man stands nearby. The left side of the road is probably a boat anchorage. Teahouses along the Koshu Road

The bank of Katsura River, which separated the feudal domains of Sagami and Kai along the old Koshu Highway (present-day Uenohara-machi in southeastern Yamanashi Prefecture), seen from the east side (Sagami side) of the river. The buildings are teahouses standing along the highway, the existence of which is reported in travel journals as early as the Tenpo Period (1830-44). The mountain station Suwa-no-Sekisho (Kuchidome Bansho) is up the slope on the right. Mt.
