The 19th yokozuna (grand champion of sumo wrestling) Hitachiyama (1878-1922) poses with a child. A native of Mito (Ibaragi Prefecture), he joined with 2nd generation Umegatani (1878-1927) in welcoming in the golden years of sumo in the late Meiji and Taisho Periods.
