Tatsuno-dera Temple,Katase

The main hall is visible through the Sanmon (main gate). The official name of the temple is Jakkozan Ryukoji Temple. The construction of the gate in 1864 was sponsored by Kashimaya, a wealthy merchant house in Osaka. The main hall, Sanmon, and the all night lanterns remain to this day.         Five-story pagoda at Hokanji Temple

        The five-story pagoda of Hokanji Temple is viewed facing east. There are many visitors on the temple approach, and a gas light is visible. The pagoda, also called Yasaka Tower, was built in 1440 by Ashikaga Yoshinori and underwent major repair work in 1618. Featuring a tiled roof, it is 40m tall and 5.5m wide.                     This Kannon-do was rebuilt by the third shogun Tokugawa Iemitsu in 1649. The style of construction is koran mitesaki-zukuri. The photograph captures a flock of pigeons flying from Niomon (gate). The building burned down in an air raid on March 10, 1945. The present-day Kannon-do was erected on October 17, 1958.
