Shijo Ohashi Bridge over the Kamo River
View of Shijo-Ohashi Bridge from across the Kamogawa River, facing west. The iron bridge was built in 1874 and has round lights on its parapets. Yaomasa Restaurant is located on the north side of the west end of the bridge. In the middle of the bridge is a Western-style temporary arch and a sign that says Sanshisuimei (an expression to describe the beauty of the mountains and water) . Women holding parasols walk across the bridge. Taken in 1904.==Date:1904, Place:Kyoto, Photo:Underwood, (Credit:Nagasaki University Library/Kyodo News Images) [Cabinet Number97‐45‐0]
