                      Statesman Okuma Shigenobu obviously liked plants because there were three greenhouses at his residence. A Tokyo magazine reported in 1907 that, There is a second greenhouse attached to the house, with one main room and two annexed rooms containing rare tropical plants. As seen in this photograph, Okuma enjoyed Japanese bonsai as well as tropical plants.
