Ebisu Shrine,Akunoura

This is Akunoura Ebisu Shrine. Kuichi Uchida took a photo from this same angle when he traveled with Emperor Meiji in 1872. Compared to that photo, the pine tree on the left of the torii gate by the sea side is missing. Therefore, this photo must have been taken after Kuichi’s photo. Also since the building located on the landfill area reserved for naval use, taken right after the typhoon on August 20, 1874, is not in the picture, this photo must have been taken prior to that. The shrine building has disappeared, but the shrine itself is still extant.==Date:about 1873, Place:Nagasaki, Photo:Ueno Hikoma, (Credit:Nagasaki University Library/Kyodo News Images)
