Himi Pass,Nagasaki

The Himi Shindo Co. was established in April 1881. The cut and cover construction of a new road was completed on July 30, 1882. From the top of the pass, a 18-metre wide, 20-metre deep trough was dug to accommodate the new road, which was four metres in width. Until the construction of Himi Tunnel 1926, this pass area served as the last stretch of the Nagasaki Road.
