Japan's Sawa named FIFA Women's Player of Year
TOKYO, Japan - Japan's Homare Sawa (R) equalizes in the second half of extra time in the Women's World Cup final against the United States in July 2011 in Germany, en route to Nadeshiko Japan's first World Cup title in a penalty shootout. Sawa was named FIFA Women's World Player of the Year on Jan. 9, 2012. (Kyodo)
