Takanohana part ways with Nishonoseki faction
TOKYO, Japan - Former sumo grand champion Takanohana leaves Tokyo's Ryogoku Kokugikan after meeting with the Nishonoseki faction on Jan. 8, 2010. The 37-year-old said he will part ways with Nishinoseki to announce his candidacy in the Japan Sumo Association's board of directors election, breaking a convention of running with the support of a faction, as his faction failed to select candidates earlier in the day.
