Artificial objects found in deep-sea organisms
TOKYO, Japan - Rubber bands and what seem to be chemical fibers, found in the stomach of a deceased giant isopod, are shown at the Toba Aquarium in Toba, Mie Prefecture, central Japan, on Aug. 11, 2014. The findings raise concerns that man-made waste is contaminating the abyssal floor, a habitat of giant isopods. (Kyodo)
