New grapes 'Ponta' to become available around 2021
TONDABAYASHI, Japan - Bunches of new grapes initially cultivated by crossing different types of grapes by the Research Institute of Environment, Agriculture and Fisheries, Osaka Prefecture in 1973 is seen in the city of Habikino on Aug. 28, 2014. The grapes, named "Ponta," are expected to be sold around 2021 as the institute has recently applied for variety registration after the regulation for the use of plant growth regulators was eased.
