Monorail serving Tokyo's Haneda airport marks 50th anniversary

TOKYO, Japan - Rail cars painted to reproduce the 500 series Tokyo Monorail cars introduced in 1969 run as part of a "parade" of six types of rail cars previously and currently in service on Sept. 17, 2014, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the monorail linking Tokyo's Haneda airport with the downtown area. Tokyo Monorail connecting the airport and Hamamatsucho Station launched its service on Sept. 17, 1964, ahead of the Tokyo Olympics later that year. (Kyodo)

          UTSUNOMIYA, Japan, Aug. 26 Kyodo - A light rail transit train carrying children and others runs through Utsunomiya in Tochigi Prefecture, north of Tokyo, after a ceremony commemorating the start of the service is held at JR Utsunomiya Station on Aug. 26, 2023.                 NTT DoCoMo announced on the 18th that it will start commercial service of the 5th generation communication (5G) on the 25th. The "5G Gigaho" pricing plan will have unlimited data usage capacity for the time being, with a monthly fee starting at 4,480 yen (excluding consumption tax), 500 yen more than the current "Gigaho" 4G plan. The company aims to set up 20,000 5G base stations by fiscal 2021 and 20 million subscribers by fiscal 2011. 500 5G base stations will be installed within the month. The service will be available at 150 locations, including major stadiums such as Yokohama International Stadium and Hanshin Koshien Stadium, major transportation and tourist facilities such as Haneda International Airport, JR Osaka Station and Tokyo Sky Tree, and some docomo shops.
