Former lower house speaker Doi dies at 85
TOKYO, Japan - File photo taken in August 1993 shows Takako Doi (R) taking the chair after being elected speaker of Japan's House of Representatives. Doi, who also led the Japan Socialist Party, the predecessor of the Social Democratic Party, from 1986 to 1991, died of pneumonia on Sept. 20, 2014. She was 85. (Kyodo)
