Japanese woman conductor honored at international music festival
TOKYO, Japan - Japanese woman conductor Tomomi Nishimoto (C) poses with an award certificate in Rome on Oct. 23, 2014, after being honored at the Vatican Music Festival by the annual event's sponsoring foundation. The foundation praised her contribution to the study of "oratio" originating in Gregorian chant prayers among secret Christians on Ikitsuki Island in Nagasaki Prefecture, where her great-grandmother was born.
