Bird flu virus detected in Yamaguchi, 3rd case of winter

NAGATO, Japan - Local officials of the western Japan prefecture of Yamaguchi prepare to cull around 37,000 chickens before dawn on Dec. 30, 2014, at a farm where a bird flu outbreak was confirmed. It was the third avian influenza case of the winter at a chicken farm in Japan, after the city of Miyazaki in southwestern prefecture announced a confirmed case the previous day. (Kyodo)
