Resin spray over nuclear plant

TOKYO, Japan - File photo shows resin which workers began test-spraying on April 1, 2011, at a nuclear power plant crippled by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami in Fukushima Prefecture to prevent radioactive particles from being dispersed. Tokyo-based Kurita Water Industries Ltd. developed this water-soluble resin, which has coating effects. The company said the resin was originally developed for use in land reclamation and development work to prevent sand from being dispersed, so its efficiency in solidifying radioactive materials with soil is uncertain. The resin is painted green to make it easy for workers to see areas that have been already sprayed. (Kyodo)
