Outflow of highly radioactive water into sea stopped

TOKYO, Japan - Combined photo shows a pit wall near the water intake of the No.2 reactor at the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in Fukushima Prefecture at 5:40 a.m. on April 6, 2011 (top), and at 3:20 p.m. on April 5, 2011 (bottom). The top frame shows that the leakage of highly radioactive water from a crack in the pit wall has stopped. Tokyo Electric Power Co. said April 6 the outflow into the Pacific stopped after it injected the previous day sodium silicate into the gravel areas beneath the bottom of the pit. The photo on the bottom was taken shortly after the injection. (Photo courtesy of TEPCO)(Kyodo)
