Joint demonstrations by Muslims, Christians in Cairo
CAIRO, Egypt - Muslims and Christians demonstrate together in western Cairo on May 9, 2011, against escalating religious conflict following the political upheaval in Egypt that saw long-ruling President Hosni Mubarak ousted, insisting that the followers of the two religions are united. A Christian church in the capital was torched by Islamic fundamentalists May 7, and over a dozen people were reportedly killed in a clash the same day between Muslims and Christians in front of the church.
