Isuzu releases trucks complying with new clean air regulations

TOKYO, Japan - Isuzu Motors Ltd. released new models of its Giga heavy-duty (in photo) and Forward midsize truck series that comply with Japan's new clean air regulations on May 17, 2010. The new regulations require a 65 percent cut in nitrogen oxide emissions and a 63 percent reduction in particulate matter emissions compared with the previous regulations for 3.5-ton and larger trucks.     Fukuoka City, Tokyo R&D (Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo), and others have begun a joint demonstration of fuel cell trucks (photo).       UD Trucks and Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation have introduced collaborative robots to their engine assembly lines on a trial basis, and Hino Motors will expand the use of robots to the production of heavy-duty truck parts by fiscal 2025. UD Trucks has introduced collaborative robots on a trial basis in the large engine assembly line at its Ageo Plant (Ageo City, Saitama Prefecture). In the future, the company plans to introduce collaborative robots by FY 2013 in the assembly of axles for heavy-duty truck parts at its Koga Plant (Koga City, Ibaraki Prefecture), after ensuring safety through the use of communication and cameras.
