Tokaimura mayor calls for denuclearization policy

TOKYO, Japan - Tatsuya Murakami, mayor of Tokaimura, Ibaraki Prefecture, gives a speech at a civic meeting in Tokyo on May 26, 2012. The 69-year-old mayor of the village, which has in the past promoted itself as a "pioneer" of Japan's nuclear development, is now a chief campaigner for abandoning nuclear power generation in the wake of the world's worst nuclear accident in a quarter-century at the Fukushima Daiichi complex.
