Mom happy with child-rearing grant
ASAHI, Japan - A woman shows cash she received under a government child-rearing allowance program on June 1, 2010, at the Asahi town office in Toyama Prefecture. Seven municipalities in three prefectures became the first to distribute the allowances of 13,000 yen per child. The measure was a key pledge by the ruling Democratic Party of Japan. (Kyodo)
