NBA star center Yao retiring

TOKYO, Japan - File photo shows Yao Ming (C), the 228-centimeter-tall star center of the NBA Houston Rockets, walking as the flag-bearer of the Chinese team during the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics in China in August 2008. The 30-year-old has decided to retire after nine seasons with the Rockets as he has determined that he is unable to make a complete recovery from a stress fracture in his left ankle and tendon strain, the NBA's website said July 8, 2011.
