On the road again
The world's largest primary mirror for an optical-infrared
telescope heads for the top of the 4,200-meter Mt. Mauna Kea on
Hawaii Island on Oct. 5, continuing a trip that began in Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania. The 8.2-meter-wide, 20-centimeter-thick mirror will be
installed in the ''Subaru'' telescope being built by Japan's National
Astronomical Observatory.
