Ozawa spurns Kan's call to leave DPJ
TOKYO, Japan - Former Democratic Party of Japan leader Ichiro Ozawa speaks during a press conference in Tokyo after holding a one-on-one meeting with Prime Minister Naoto Kan, current head of the DPJ, on Feb. 10, 2011. Ozawa said he was urged by Kan to leave the ruling party following his indictment last week over a funds scandal. DPJ Secretary General Katsuya Okada said the same day that Ozawa had refused to do so voluntarily and that the party will begin the process of taking punitive action against him on Monday. (Kyodo)
