Okinawa governor protests Maher's remarks
NAHA, Japan - Okinawa Gov. Hirokazu Nakaima (R) hands a letter of protest to Raymond Greene, the U.S. consul general in Okinawa, on March 10, 2010, at the prefectural government office in Naha, Okinawa Prefecture. Nakaima protested comments by senior U.S. diplomat Kevin Maher that reportedly insulted the people of Okinawa, and urged the United States to investigate if Maher actually made the remarks. Maher was dismissed from the post. (Kyodo)
