THE THIEF AND THE COBBLER [BR / CANADA / US 1995] THE PRINCESS AND THE COBBLER aka THE AMAZING NASRUDDIN aka THE MAJESTIC FOOL [BR / US 1968 - 1996] Richard Williams's unfinished animation begun in 1968. Williams eventually secured a deal with Warner Bros. after his success as the director of animation on 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' but, with the project over deadline and fearing competition with Disney's 'Aladdin' the film was taken away from the director and finished in Korea under the direction of Fred Calvert. Miramax then acquired rights to the project and extensively reworked it, adding musical interludes. Date: 1995
