Japanese attack Chungking

Japanese troops launch an attack on Chungking (Chongqing) during the Second Sino-Japanese War. From the end of 1938 Chungking became the base and provisional capital of Chiang Kai-Shek's KMT. Despite much aerial bombardment and attempts to take the city, it stood firm until the end of the war. Date: 1937-1945
