Unitika unveils corn-based eco-friendly swim suits, clothes

TOKYO, Japan - Erika Sakai, the 16-year-old 2006 Unitika Ltd. mascot girl, wears clothes using a corn-based environmentally friendly fabric during a fashion show in Tokyo on Oct. 16. The textile maker said the fabric can be decomposed by bacteria into water and into carbon dioxide if buried in soil. (Kyodo)
