Japan, India conducts joint exercise to deal with pirates

KITAKYUSHU, Japan - The Japan Coast Guard and the Indian Coast Guard conduct a joint exercise in the sea off the city of Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture, to deal with pirate attacks on ships on Nov. 18. The drill was conducted on the assumption that an Indian patrol vessel had received a distress call from a cargo ship attacked by pirates in open waters near Japan. (Kyodo)
