New METI parliamentary secretary Katayama vows to carry out refo
TOKYO, Japan - Rookie lawmaker Satsuki Katayama walks into the prime minister's office after being appointed as parliamentary secretary of the Economy, Industry and Trade Ministry on Nov. 2. The 46-year-old former elite bureaucrat at the Finance Ministry pledged to carry out reforms at her new position, saying, ''I was elected to parliament as I advocated reforms. It is a challenge for me to complete the mission in a good way.'' (Kyodo)
