NHK head apologizes for reporter's arrest in attempted arson

OTSU, Japan - Hirofumi Kasamatsu, a 24-year-old NHK reporter who has admitted to the attempted arson charge, leaves Otsu Police Station in Shiga Prefecture in a car as he is sent to prosecutors on Nov. 6. NHK President Genichi Hashimoto offered an apology earlier in the day over the incident, saying: ''We heartily apologize to those affected, relevant parties, and our viewers and listeners.'' (Kyodo)
