East Asia Summit eyes community, Russia calls for membership
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia - Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi (R) borrows a pen from Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao as leaders of 16 Asia and Pacific countries sign a joint declaration at the end of their summit conference in Kuala Lumpur on Dec. 14. The leaders pledged to work toward a long-term goal to create a cohesive community in the region. (Kyodo)
