Maoists shut down Nepal on 1st day of 3-day general strike
KATHMANDU, Nepal - Supporters of Nepal's Maoists take to the streets on Dec. 20, 2009, the first day of a three-day nationwide general strike, to demand that President Ram Baran Yadav apologize for his decision in May to countermand Maoist leader Prachanda's order for the army chief to be sacked.
