Japanese painter Hirayama dies
ONOMICHI, Japan - This photo shows newspaper Extras announcing the death of painter Ikuo Hirayama posted at an newspaper delivery agency in his hometown Setoda in Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, on Dec. 2, 2009. Hirayama, a traditional-style Japanese painter known for his works with themes based on the Silk Road and Buddhism, died of a stroke the same day. (Kyodo)
