700 'hina' dolls displayed on 4-meter-high stand
SETO, Japan - People watch a staff member of the Seto city tourism association (L) putting some 700 ''hina'' dolls on display on a 4-meter-high stepped pyramid in the academic and entertainment facility Seto Gura in Seto, Aichi Prefecture, on Jan. 29. The city, a traditional production center for pottery and porcelain, and local ceramic ware makers will show the hina dolls, all ceramic or glass, to the public from Jan. 30, calling the podium a ''hinamid.'' The dolls are usually displayed on a much smaller stand in homes for the happiness of young girls around early March in Japan. (Kyodo)
