Shiretoko area to regulate visitors for bears
KUSHIRO, Japan - Photo taken in September 2010, shows a view of Shiretoko Goko Lakes, a popular tourist spot on the Shiretoko Peninsula in Hokkaido. Visitors will be required to pay a fee to use the boardwalks at the lakes from May 2011, depending on the season, as a measure to ensure their safety against appearances by brown bears and to prevent visitors from disturbing the bears' habitat.
