Shiretoko area to regulate visitors for bears
KUSHIRO, Japan - Visitors are seen on a boardwalk at Shiretoko Goko Lakes, a popular tourist spot on the Shiretoko Peninsula in Hokkaido, in September 2010. Visitors will be required to pay a fee to use the boardwalks from May 2011, depending on the season, as a measure to ensure their safety against appearances by brown bears and to prevent visitors from disturbing the bears' habitat.
