Nightlong ceremony to commemorate Buddha's death held at temple
KOYA, Japan - About 130 chief priests and nuns take part in a nightlong ceremony on Feb. 14 to commemorate Parinirvana Day on Feb. 15, the day the Buddha is said to have achieved Pananirvana upon the death of his physical body. During the ceremony, the priests and nuns read out passages from the sutra including the one describing the Buddha's last days while many worshippers watched. (Kyodo)
