Toyota launches redesigned Passo compact car

NAGOYA, Japan - Photo shows the redesigned Passo compact hatchback, developed by Toyota Motor Corp. in conjunction with its subsidiary Daihatsu Motor Co. and launched Feb. 15, 2010. Toyota initially planned to hold events to mark the launch of the new model but canceled them as the automaker is currently recalling its new Prius hybrid and other vehicles due to brake problems. Honda to sell CR-Z hybrid sports car priced from 2.27 mil. yen

TOKYO, Japan - Honda Motor Co. will sell its CR-Z gasoline-electric hybrid sports car (photo) at a starting retail price as low as 2.27 million yen. Honda has set the price of the two-seater, which will be launched Feb. 26 in Japan as the world's first hybrid sports car, lower than conventional sports cars in a bid to draw new customers who are interested in high operational performance when driving at a high speed. Mitsubishi Motors unveils 'i MiEV SPORT' at Tokyo Motor Show

TOKYO, Japan - Mitsubishi Motors Corp. said on Oct. 10 it will exhibit an electric car, ''i MiEV SPORT,'' (shown in this photo) at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show. The event will be opened to the public from Oct. 27 to Nov. 11 and will feature about 540 passenger and commercial vehicles, as well as motorcycles, from 58 companies. Toyota releases all-new, higher-end minivan hybrid

NAGOYA, Japan - Toyota Motor Corp. on June 12 marketed in Japan a completely redesigned, higher-end minivan hybrid (in photo), whose mileage has improved to 20 kilometers per liter of gasoline, a fuel economy comparable to that of a compact car, thanks to use of a smaller motor and battery. The seven-seater, four-wheel-drive Estima G with a 2.4-liter engine also boasts better acceleration and sells for 4.41 million yen, about 500,000 yen more expensive than comparable gasoline-powered vehicles, Toyota Motor said.
