2 women arrested for record-high inheritance tax evasion
OSAKA, Japan - Hatsue Ri (in photo), a 64-year-old company executive, and her sister Yoshiko Ri were arrested in Osaka on March 11 on suspicion of evading about 2.86 billion yen in inheritance tax, the highest figure for a case involving inheritance tax evasion recorded in Japan. The two women are suspected of hiding about 5.93 billion yen inherited from their father, who founded a group of eight firms including real estate leasing and loan companies. (Kyodo)
