Ryuo title holder beats shogi software in historic showdown
TOKYO, Japan - Akira Watanabe, holder of the prestigious Ryuo title, prevails over Bonanza, the world's most powerful computer shogi program, in a historic clash in Tokyo on March 21. Bonanza, which won the world computer shogi (Japanese chess) championship last May, made the first move in the showdown at a Tokyo hotel but Watanabe, 22, beat it as many shogi players had predicted.
