Journalist Omori, known for coverage of Vietnam War, dies at 88

TOKYO, Japan - Longtime journalist Minoru Omori (file photo), known for his coverage of the Vietnam War, died of pneumonia at a hospital in southern California on March 25, 2010. He was 88. Formerly a staff reporter at the Mainichi Shimbun, Omori received a prestigious prize for Japanese journalists in 1960 and another in 1965 but left the newspaper in 1966 after his feature story series on the Vietnam War was criticized by then U.S. Ambassador to Japan Edwin Reischauer.
