340 U.S. troops from Okinawa arrive in Philippines
ISABELA, Philippines - A fresh batch of 340 U.S. troops arrives in Isabela on Basilan Island in the southern Philippines on April 20 to help the Philippine military fight the Muslim rebel group Abu Sayyaf. The troops, mostly naval engineers from a U.S. military base in Okinawa, Japan, will begin building roads and other vital infrastructure on the island on April 23.
