$1.8 mil. sale of Gandhi's items put on hold at N.Y. auction
NEW YORK, United States - This photo shows a set of personal items of Indian nationalist independence leader Mahatma Gandhi, including a pair of round glasses, a watch and a bowl, which was sold for $1.8 million at the auction house Antiquorum in New York on March 5. But the sale will be put on hold for two weeks as the seller tried to withdraw them shortly before the bidding and an Indian court ordered the auction suspended. (Kyodo)
