''Human chess'' event in Tendo

YAMAGATA, Japan - Local high school students dressed up as feudal warlords move on a 16.6-meter-long, 13.8-meter-wide Japanese chess board during an annual ''human chess'' event in the city of Tendo, Yamagata Prefecture, on April 21, the opening day of the cherry blossom festival there. Tendo is famous for being Japan's largest producer of Japanese chess pieces. (Kyodo)
