Japan businessman makes 2nd attempt to cross Pacific on rowboat
SHINGU, Japan - Seen off by friends and supporters, Ikuo Tateo, a 66-year-old businessman, leaves Miwasaki fishing port in Shingu, Okayama Prefecture on April 21 in a fresh attempt at a solo journey across the Pacific in a rowboat. His first attempt four years ago ended when his boat was wrecked in a storm shortly after he set out from Iwate Prefecture. Tateo made a round-the-world solo trip on a yacht in 2001 without making a port call. (Kyodo)
