Matsushita Electric to unveil waterproof laptop on May 19

OSAKA, Japan - A woman pours water on Matsushita Electric Industrial Co.'s waterproof computer 'Let'snote CF-Y5'' during a presentation in Osaka on April 25. Matsushita to release world's largest flat-panel TV

OSAKA, Japan - Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. will release possibly by the year-end a 103-inch plasma display panel TV (photo) whose monitor size will make it the world's largest flat-panel TV. Matsushita shuts 2 China plants due to SARS

Matsushita to launch fluorocarbon-free refrigerator

OSAKA, Japan - Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. will launch next Feb. 1 the first refrigerator in the Japanese market that does not use fluorocarbon refrigerants, which are thought to emit ozonosphere-depleting gas, the company said Nov. 8. The 320-liter NR-C32EP fridge employs a cooling system that uses hydrocarbon refrigerant, which is much less harmful to the environment.

Matsushita introduces 'wearable' mini-computer

TOKYO, Japan - Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. on June 26 launched a new wearable mini personal computer that comes with a detachable display, the first of its kind in the world. The Panasonic Pronote AirFG consists of a mobile data wireless display weighing 698 grams, and a 920-gram Toughbook 07 mini PC. The mini PC can be attached to a waist belt or carried in a bag and has a built-in rechargeable battery which will last for up to four hours.

Camera to be produced under Matsushita, Leica tie-up

OSAKA, Japan - Photo shows a digital video camera Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. plans to release Oct. 1 under a tie-up agreement with Leica Camera of Germany to develop lenses for such cameras. The NV-MX3000 digital camcorder incorporates a Leica Dicomer lens system jointly developed by the two companies.
