Ceremony celebrates centenary of Japanese emigration to Brazil

KOBE, Japan - Crown Prince Naruhito addresses a ceremony in Kobe, western Japan, on April 28 marking the centenary this year of Japanese emigration to Brazil. The first group of Japanese emigrants left Kobe port on April 28, 1908, arriving at a Brazilian port on June 18, 1908, on the Kasato Maru. Prince Naruhito, honorary president for the Japan-Brazil Exchange Year, plans to visit Brazil in June. (Kyodo)
