Hideyo Noguchi Africa Prize banquet
YOKOHAMA, Japan - Emperor Akihito (C) delivers an address at a banquet held at a Yokohama hotel on May 28 in honor of the first Hideyo Noguchi Africa Prize laureates, Prof. Miriam K. Were of Kenya and Dr. Brian Greenwood of Britain. The prize, awarded to the two recipients earlier in the day, is named after Japanese biologist Hideyo Noguchi, who died in Ghana in 1928 while carrying out research on yellow fever.
