4,000 raccoons to be exterminated in Kanagawa Pref.
YOKOHAMA, Japan - Photo shows a raccoon caught in a private residence in Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture, in April 2006. The Kanagawa prefectural government has mapped out a plan to exterminate about all 4,000 raccoons believed to live in the prefecture in five years from April as the animals cause severe damage to agriculture, prefectural officials said on May 6.
